1. Name: Shuqilin Culture Hall

Origin:
Zhudong Town has the former names of “Shuqilin” or “Xiangqinian”, which is so named because it was originally a thick Shuqi forest. “Shuqilin Local Culture Hall” utilizes the old building of “Zhudong Town Agricultural Product Sales Center”. Because it combined the different functions of “agricultural product” and “cultural performance” in the use of “Zhudong Town Agricultural Product Sales Center”, the problems such as poor use or idle space took place accordingly. Therefore, Zhudong Township Office reoriented and planned it as the “Shuqilin Cultural Culture Hall” in the spirit of community construction and together with the opportunity that the Council for Cultural Affairs drove the “Local Culture Hall Plan”, so as to shape this Hall into the Zhudong Cultural Assembly Hall.
Unique Scenery view:
Zhudong Town is located in the central place of Hsinchu County, connected to eights towns outside, and has been a good commuting base for the high-tech practitioners between work and leisure since Zhuke came into existence. The establishment of the Hsinchu Science Zone has the epoch-making meaning for the economic development of Hsinchu District. However, with the advancement of times and development of science and technology civilization, how to exhibit the town-specific cultural construction is the cultural task undertaken by Zhudong Town to inherit fine tradition and usher in the future.
Space Function
Shuqilin Local Culture Hall was formally listed for use on July 10th, 1993 under the planning and preparation for over a year. As for the space planning, the first floor is exhibition hall and second floor is performance hall. The Zhudong Township Office leads the art and culture performance all over the year, organizes the activities by set so as to drive the people stream and actually promote the quality of cultural activity and art performance in Zhudong Town through the planning of various exhibition and performance activity. Such Hall is expected to interconnect with the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu County in Jhubei and become the “dual core” of art and culture development in Hsinchu County so that each art and culture exhibition and performance is not limited in Jhubei City, but also extends to the surrounding towns so as to upgrade the level of regional art and culture.

2. Name: Beipu Museum of Local Culture

Origin:
Beipu Museum of Local Culture is originally the Public Health Center and completed in 1981 for the public use. However, it was idle after the new Public Health Center was completed and then renovated to be the culture museum under the “Local Culture Museum Plan”.
Unique Scenery view:
Beipu Town holds the beautiful mountain views and Taiwan-famous historic site and architecture such as Guangjinfu and Citian Palace, and preserves the simple folkway of Hakka traditional settlement and the special industrial culture as dried persimmon, taro cake and beating tea; in order to fully exhibit the customs and local features of Beipu, it further plans to set up the “Beipu Museum of Local Culture” to promote the understanding of civilians to Beipu and Hakka Culture.
Space Function:
The current space planning has two floors, in which the first floor is the normal exhibition area and information desk, primarily providing the tour information of Beipu, and the second floor is the exhibition area of subject such as literal and historical data and multimedia exhibition space, enabling the audience to realize the Beipu-specific historic relics.

3. Name: Pong-feng Tea Museum of Local Culture

Origin:
The “Beipu First Inn” as the shrine of tea production plans to setup the “Pong-feng Tea Museum of Local Culture” with the assistance of “Local Cultural Museum Plan” driven by Council for Cultural Affairs, promoting the Beipu-specific local culture to the world. This museum is originally a tea-making factory. The well-preserved de-enzyming machine, kneading machine and drier reproduces the tea-making equipment and method in those years. Through the explanation of specially-designated person and the vivid and interesting exhibition in the museum, people can deeply realize and understand the whole process of making and tasting tea so as to achieve the goal of education and study.

The production and sale of Oriental Beauty Tea has recently become the major cultural industry in Beipu Town as well as the local important economic resource. Because of the high quality and small quantity, the honey and ripe fruit fragrance in the tea’s aroma and the unique flavor, this kind of tea is favored by the tea fan and is granted the elegant name of “Pong-feng Tea”. It is said that a hundred years ago, the English merchant presented “Pong-feng Tea” to the Emperess and she felt amazing about its fragrance and purity. Because it is produced in the oriental Formosa, it is granted the name of “Oriental Beauty Tea”.

This Museum is located in the important beachhead of Hakka culture of Beipu District. Knowing that the tea is the old-line special culture in Taiwan District, the development of Hakka and tea culture becomes the important working program of this museum. The planning that combines the centurial old residence and tea culture, extension of Hakka traditional food and regularly-held art and culture activity introduce the small Beipu Town with dense Hakka flavor and abundant history and culture to the foreigners.

4. Name: Old Hukou Catholic Chapel

Origin:
The Laohuhou Catholic Chapel was originally located in the Old Hukou Railway Station (Great Hukou Freight Station). Going through the changes of district development, not only the railway station moved to the New Hukou, but also the political and economic core. The space of old railway station is released at the same and translated into the use of Catholic Chapel at the historical moment when the Catholicism entered into Hukou.

This museum is located in No.1 Hukou Old Street, which is the top of the old street. The chapel’s body will be opened up for the local Catholic cultural relic museum, exhibiting the Catholic missionary course and cultural relic in Old Hukou to witness the past history; the kindergarten on the west side will be transformed into the community art and culture center for the local artists’ production and performance and to increase the opportunities for the community residents to participate in the art and culture activities.

In the “Recycle Plan of the Idle Space in the Old Hukou Catholic Chapel”, it whole base is divided into three phases, namely the renovation of church body, entrance space and the Abba’s dormitory, kindergarten and backyard. The contents of three-phase planning respectively have different functions of space use. For the integrated operational management, each phase has its different focus. At present, the building’s renovation project has completed and the subsequent development is worthy of expectation. With the support of Hsinchu parish, Council for Cultural Affairs, Cultural Affairs Bureau of Hsinchu County Government and Township Office, the Old Hukou Catholic Chapel will reemerge soon. The local church cultural relic museum, Five Loaves & Two Fish Restaurant and the relevant series activities will launch in succession, making the vigor distributed by the missionaries coming to Taiwan from remote Italy reemerge in the Old Hukou and hoping that their wish to missionize and build church can reappear by virtue of Old Hukou Catholic Chapel, enabling more people to know Jesus.

5. Name: Guansi Taiwanese Black Tea Museum

The “Taiwan Black Tea” produced in Guansi Town of Hsinchu is one of the representatives of Taiwanese traditional tea industry, in which the “THE FORMOSA BLACK TEA CO., LTD” commencing from the Japan Government Period occupy a significantly important position in the history. No matter how time and space changes, its facility, office and production workshop remain their features and leave many products, equipment and old photo worthy of historical memory in the production and manufacture course for over 70 years and write down the splendid records in the history of Taiwanese tea development. Therefore, under the drive of “Local Culture Museum”, Formosa plans to change the existing facility and office, designedly arrange the space to exhibit the historic relics, exercise factory of team process and many precious historical photos and establish the “Culture Museum of Guanxi Taiwanese Black Tea Industry” in the hope that we can keep the declining track of tea industry through the preservation of cultural relics of tea industry.

Once you come to Guanxi Taiwanese Black Tea Museum, you can not only visit the products, equipment and old photos worthy of historical memory, but also in person inspect the course of tea production. 6. Name: Liu Xingqing Cartoon Memorial

Origin:
The local cartoonist Liu Xingqing is also the important humanistic resource of Neiwan. Liu Xingqing, nickname as Ah Qing, is domiciled in Dashanbei Village of Hengshan Town. He ever studied in Fengxiang Preliminary School and is the local cartoonist born in Hengshan. He branded his name with the series cartoons such as Brother Ah San, Dashenpo, Little Smart, Robot and Ah Qing. The characters under his pen are full of rural flavor and are created and completed under the background of Hengshan views.
In consideration of the contribution and efforts made by Mr. Liu Xingqing to the Neiwan settlement and with the drive of Jiuzantou Cultural Association, the “Liu Xingqing Cartoon Memorial” is established.

The Liu Xingqing Cartoon Memorial takes the cartoon character Dashenpo and Brother Ah San as the business circle to forge the local marks, facilitate the revival of Neiwan Railway and Neiwan Old Street, integrate the surrounding Youluo Rivulet, hanging bridge, Hakka culture and delicious food, and further bring along the industrial revival and properity in Neiwan.

The Liu Xingqing Cartoon and Invention Memorial built through the recycle of idle space newly presents the fresh and beautiful style in the exterior and sets the Liu Xingqing’s cartoon area and the his invented small product areas as well as the little sap of coal mine to let children enter into the game in the interior. In addition, the Hakka fancy cloth and Hakka agricultural special local product area exhibited by the Cultural Association will be rebuilt and arranged to be a space with thick Hakka climate. The cartoon character statue such as Dashenpo can be seen everywhere in space design in and out of the museum. In addition, the Liu Xingqing Cartoon Area can make the visitors more deeply understand Liu Xingqing as both a cartoonist and an inventor.

7. Name: Hengshan Folk Arts and Traditional Culture Museum

Origin:
In the early days, the important industries in Hengshan district are timber, mineral and camphor. Because these industries come down due to recession, the current commercial mode gives priority to entertainment and tourism. The thick milk of human kindness in the Neiwan villagers and the extension of native diet have become the largest economic resource of Neiwan. With the collective efforts of township office and earnest civilians who concern the local culture and industry, the original “Hengshan Town Neiwan Activity Center” idle and covered with dust for five years after its completion is planned and built to be the “Hengshan Folk Arts and Traditional Culture Museum” and formally open on November 6th. The establishment of cultural museum, in the respect of local community construction, will be a strong extension window, not only making the visitors to the Neiwan Old Street realize the cultural features, but also putting forward the originality thoughts, exhibiting the Taiwanese abundant and diversified cultural features and thus bringing along the employment opportunities and economic benefits through the contributions of local professional team, literary history workers or performance group.
Unique Scenery View:
The architecture system of this museum integrates the features of Hakka and South Fuchien architecture, in which the Hakka round earthbuilding at the entrance hall and the guarding dragon on the left side can be taken as the representative. The building’s roof selects the black Japanese tiles and the wall uses the red bricks and some imitate-stone elevation, which echo the feature of diversified Hakka architecture.

Regarding the subject planning of future activity, it will focus on the local folk-custom culture and relic, distinguish the two subjects of static arts exhibition area and dynamic performance plaza, periodically organize the subject activities such as travel over the countryside culture, town’s art performance and traditional music and opera performance in addition to inviting the performance of local artists and combine the performance space of outdoor plaza as the activity distribution center of Hengshan and Neiwan’s art and culture information.

The couple Chen Jindeng and Zhang Guiying moved their Hsinchu County China workshop that originally produced China dolls and exported products to European and US to the mainland Shenzhen and other places in the Southeast Asia after they did business for ten years. Because the shopkeeper’s wife who love the arts can’t bear the site to be idle, the whole building was rebuilt and came into the “Mingguan Culture and Art Museum”.

In the recent years, under the struggling cultivation of Mingguan Art and Life Museum, its interaction with the community residents in the City of Beauty has shown the results. The local culture museum, in addition to the basic hardware facilities, shall think more in the human-oriented manner, in the hope to integrate the art and culture with the cultural industry and create the local economic production value and cultural features by activating the plentiful historical and humanistic resources in the community City of Beauty through this museum.

9. Name: Neiwan Movie Theatre
 
Origin:
The Neiwan Movie Theatre located in Neiwan Village, Hengshan Town, Hsinchu County was planned and completed for use by the Owner Yangchengquan in 1950, which is a Japanese-styled building with profound historic meaning. In the early age, because the mining and wood industry was very flourishing, many labors came into the mountain forest to reclaim. For the railway and road set Neiwan as terminus, a lot of work force left here. In consideration of the short local entertainment and public assembly space, the local esquire Yang Shengqian constructed the theatre in the so-called Small Shanghai due to its prosperous mining lumbering as well as the busy crowd.
Unique Scenery View:
The architectural structure of Neiwan Movie Theatre adopts the large-span beam and the Japanese-styled combination, which is the only wooden theatre preserved best in Taiwan. The current lessee rebuilt it and transferred to operate the Hakka humanistic restaurant. The restaurant is also decorated with the life instrument of 50s and 60s, making the many visitors entering into the theatre feel like stepping into the time tunnel those years.

10. Name: Shahuli Art Village

Origin:
The natural, humanistic and artistic village respects and shares the existence value of humanistic life in Shahuli and recognizes the international trend shared by the natural spirit and culture. The local history and culture of Shahuli, by virtue of the commensal chance, connects the intimate rules of human and nature.
This Art Village was founded in April, 2002, which is a private-operated art village with private land. The foundation is to provide the open window to the originator of modern art home and abroad, hoping the interaction between the both parties can discover more actors contributing to the Taiwanese art and humanism, the coming civilians can have more opportunities to get close to the dream world of artistic originator and this Art Village can carry on its effort to support the artistic operators and popularize the art and culture activities.
Unique Scenery View:
This Art Village is located in the lakeside land beside the Baoshan reservoir in Shanhu Village, Baoshan Town, Hsinchu County. There are three old buildings in the village, including the brick bungalow earliest constructed in the Japanese Government Period with a history of over 70 years. It is the former residence of Mr. Gu Yaoji born in Baoshan and his son and draughter grew up here, who became the national first place of the university uniform examination in succession and were enrolled into the Electric Engineering and Information Department of National Taiwan University. The villagers believe this land has good Fengshui and can produce talents, so they constructed it as the Shahuli café; the other two buildings in the village is the Labor Affairs Office built by the Irrigation Associations for the construction of Baoshan Reservoir in 1981 and rebuilt as the indoor exhibition place of Art Village, operating office of Art Village, Shop of Artists and Artist Studio. Mr. Zhou purchased this land in 1981 and has heartedly planned for the arrangement, land management and tree planting for over 20 years. The trees planted at that time have become thick forest. The shrubs and arbors such as camphor, olive, Acacia confusa Merr, tung tree, and Araucariacrae stand in great numbers. The tree species are abundant and multiple according to the changes of seasons, so this space accumulates plenty of natural ecological resources, especially the two hanging bridges crossing the reservoir beside this space, which enables the visual field and footprint to extend into the broader central lake.
Space Function:
The space planning in the Shahuli Art Village focuses on providing the works release and nonscheduled performance of artists home and abroad. The splendid lake views in the Art Village and two hanging bridges nearby have become a beautiful art and culture scenery views in Hsinchu County. In addition, the Village provides the service of booking ecologic guide.

11. Name: Baoshan Candle Art Museum
Origin:
Baoshan Candle Art Museum, the former Artwork Company established in 1991, was engaged in the design sculpture and production of resin artworks at the beginning and then specialized in the making of artistic candles. It mainly produces the series of golden Christmas, lace pane, park relief, floating rose, church candle and various festival candles, amounting to over a hundred series of products.
Unique Scenery View:
Climbing over the zigzag mountain ways, you can see the Taiwanese rarely-survived Light of Baoshan-Baoshan Candle Art Museum (candle park) located behind the St.Teresa Church in BaoshanTown, HsinchuCounty.
There is a religious and dexterous candle maker-Lv Yinmei, who, together with her husband, transforms from the export company to the candle production and D.I.Y. teaching in the optimistic will and romantic belief. They make up their determination to spread the beauty of candle to the public and distribute the light of candle to everywhere. Each piece of work contains the full regard of the candle maker.

In addition to the sale and exhibition area of candles in the first classroom, there are two areas of“DIY teaching” and “Sculpture Demonstration”. The Neiwan Classroom was formally inaugurated on December 3rd.

Route 1: Get down the Qiedong Interchange of Northern Second Highway at 103 kilometers, turn left to the Sight Road, go ahead for 800 feet until the road gets narrower, enter into the right branch (small car path), pass several houses, go ahead until the road changes to the two-directional way, advance for about 400 feet where there is a branch and go down the left bypath (to Xincheng), not the right Shuanglin Road. Pass a trail of country byway and up and down slopes, cross the culvert, finally get to the crossing with an “Old Fortunate Farmer Restaurant”, get right and cross the Xincheng Village, take the Baoxin Rorad, get out of the culvert and see the Church on the right hand. The Candle Park is up the slope beside the Church.
Route 2: Get down the Xiangshan Interchange of Northern Second Highway at 108 kilometers, turn left to the Toufeng long the Chung Hwa Road, pass two traffic lights, turn left at the third traffic light and enter into the ascent beside the OK convenient shop (Alley 647, Chung Hwa Road Section 6). Take the main road along straight and meet two branches. Turn left to Nan’ai Road Section 2 (not Nan’ai Road Section 1) at the first branch; turn right to the downhill Baoxin Road (not the Shuanglin Road) at the second branch. You will finally see the Northern First Road and church frescos after turning several crooks. The Candle Park is up the slope beside the Church.
