Historical Materials Hall
| After the Hsinchu was governed in divided county and town in 1982, the Hsinchu County Library was moved to Chungcheng East Road in Jhubei Town. Because of limited space, the records of original Hsinchu Literature Council and the collect books of Hsinchu State Library in the Japan Government Period were temporarily placed in the basement of Hsinchu County Government. In March 1996 when the Hsinchu County Cultural Center was established, the historical materials were stored in the Rural Data Room beside the library. In January, 2000, the Culture Center was renamed as Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu County; in July 2000, the “Preparation Committee of Hsinchu County History Museum” was set up to prepare matters of the County History Museum and |

actively strive for the subsidy outlay from the central government. In 2002, Cultural Affairs Bureau of Hsinchu County applied for subsidy to the Hakka Committee of Executive Yuan in the name of “Hakka Development Historical Material Hall of Hsinchu County and then used the formal name of “Hsinchu County Historical Material Hall” adopted by the Hakka Committee of Executive Yuan after several discussions.

The Historical Material Hall plays a major role in collecting and storing the official records and civilian historical materials, which cover the existing literature collected and stored in the Preparation Committee of Hsinchu County History Museum. The collect data include books, magazines, photos, films, manuscripts, architectural drawings, letters, diaries and survey and research reports and also involves the tape data of oral history and other relevant video data, CD and electronic media such as network resources so as to present the historical materials by means of subject exhibition and shorten the distance between the history and public. |
