Originally, the Hsinchu County Government was located in Hsinchu City. But, in July 1982, Hsinchu City was elevated to provincial administrative city, and the county government was moved to Toulun in Zhubei. In May of 1989 a new office building was formally opened to house the Hsinchu County Government. Classical art was combined with modern design, to create a grand ppearance. | Government Center is spread out over 23 hectares. In this center are the Hsinchu County Government units and Hsinchu County Council, making it very convenient for public inquiries. |
Lin Family Shrine
No. 16, Liujia, Tungping Li, Zhubei City, Hsinchu County
At the main entrance is written” Lin Family Shrine” in Chinese characters. The style of the characters is simple yet bold. In the main hall is arranged an array of tablets commemorating the deceased of the Lin family. Hanging in the building are inscribed wooden tablets dating back to the Ching Dynasty. The front hall was torn down to make a simple one-storied building. The roof ridges are in the shape of a swallow s tail. In the courtyard are inscribed wooden tablets that establish the Lin family’s name and position under the civil service examination system of imperial China.

The architecture is that of traditional Hakka round buildings,integreated with Western stage design techniques,making this a multifunctional arts and culture center that reflects not only culture (exhibitions) but also recreation (performances),collecting (library)and information.This center is divided into four areas:a performing arts hall,a library,an exhibition hall and a cultural plaza.The building materials symbolize traditional culture.The outer walls are made from red brick and stone.All around the center you can see displays of innovation and art,such as the “magic squares” in the library courtyard and the pond that |

Wenli Temple
No.24,Liujia,Tungping Li, Zhubei City,Hsinchu County
This temple is located in the Liujia community and was founded by the descendant of a student of Confucius who asked the sage what it meant to be polite.Confucius replied by saying that in manners more is better.So,this temple was built to be big and elegant.Initially,this temple has two purposes.The second was to receive important guests.The second was as an office where fathers and sons or brothers could discuss matters of importance.
This temple was built in the traditional 4-sided courtyard style.From the front or back ,there are 3 entrances.on the right and left are side courts with guest rooms.At the end of each corridor is an arched doorway.Tha walls of the front part of the temple have arrow holes.The beams are mostly made from Fukien fir.The style is both graceful and ancient.Since this are also grand and elegant.Currently,the county government is involved in restoring this site.
Tsaitienfuti
No. 142, Lin 15, Hsinkuo Li, Zhubei City, Hsinchu County
The Pingpu ( “plains “) aborigines of the area built Chihsingkung Hall. This is the largest aboriginal shrine in Taiwan. The Ching Dynasty Emperor Kao Tsung who reigned from 1736-1796 presented an inscribed wooden tablet to this shrine which can still be seen today. Upon completing the shrine, it was named Tsaitienfuti. In the center is the shrine and on the right is where the ancestral memorial tablets are kept. Tsaitienfuti is located in a quiet lane. Usually, there is not much activity, except when local residents come to worship.
Lienhua Temple

The Lienhua Temple is located on Fengshanchishan to the west of Xinfeng Village’s Kengtzukou.It was built in 1953 as a place to worship the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy>Here,incense is burned and candles are lighted in honor of this goddess.In front of the temple is a lotus filled pond.Also from the front of the temple are magnificent views.To the west are the Taiwan Straits and to the north is the Goddess of Mercy.
Lighthouse.In the distance is Hsiangshan.Lienhua Temple is famous for its beautiful sunsets.The surrounding beauty makes one want to linger here for as long as possible.
Zhubei Vegetable Producing Area
The Zhubei Vegetable Producing Area includes the following communities (leafy vegetables): Paiti, Hsinkang, Hsinchuang, Hsichou, Mayuan, Chungyi and Shangyi, etc.The communities of Tunghai, Aikou,Shihhsing, Lienhsing, Hsinkuo and Hsinshe, etc.,mostly grow tomatoes, melons and fruit. The vegetable producing area is located close to the coastal area of Hsinchu Nanliao Fishing Port. It is easy to get to this areas it lies between the Chung Shan Highway and the West Coast Highway. In summer, this is a major vegetable producing area for northern Taiwan, especially bok choy, green onion and leeks.
Zhubei Coastal Recreational Area
This recreational area is located in Zhubei City Shangyi neighborhood,about 7 kilometers from the Zhubei City center.Facilities include pedestrian paths,observation tower and parking lot.,etc.This is a great place for family barbecause,family outings,coming in contact with a natural forest and observing sea birds in their natural habitat.
Hungmaokang Recreational Area
Hungmaokang is located in Xinfeng Village, where the Hungmao River enters the sea. Hungmaokang faces the Taiwan Straits and occupies an area of about 8.5hectares. This is northern Taiwan’s only protected mangrove forest. This forest is hundreds of years old, and thus is a very complete and valuable ecosystem. In this area are a hanging bridge, log paths and observation pavilions, etc., that can be used toexperience the mangrove ecosystem firsthand. You will see crabs, shrimp, fish, shellfish and sea birds, etc. It is currently, the only protected mangrove forest in Taiwan that isopen to tourists.
Fengkeng Tsun Oak Forest
Xinfeng Village’s Fengkeng Tsun contains 106 large oak trees that are all more than 100 years old .There trees surround a number of 3-sided compounds popular in Taiwan long ago.These old oak trees have a number of functions.They produce oxygen,purify the air,adjust the remperature and create a green and beautiful environment.
These large trees are deciduous,the leaves are oval-shaped later on,with serrated edges.The drupe is orange in color.Thede trees are usually distributed in southern Taiwan and Hainan.
Chihfuwangyeh Temple

The Chihfuwangyeh Temple was built in the early 1800’s, during the Ching Dynasty.In 1949, it was restored by local residents and named Chihho Temple. This temple is located on the northern bank of the Hungmao River. Nearby, the mountains soar skyward creating a magnificent sight. However, the temple itself is simple. The temple’s front hall is divided into 3 parts. In the center is Shanchuan (mountains and rivers) Entrance. On the east side is the Lung (dragon) Entrance, and on the west side is the Hu (tiger) ntrance. Notice that the roof is in the shape of a swallow’s tail. Behind the temple is asecluded garden providing a quiet respite. |

Xinfeng Coastal Recreational Area
Located near the Hungmaokang Protected Mangrove Forest,the Xinfeng Coastal Recreational Area has white sand beaches along an azure sea.A forest grows among the sand dunes providing protection from the wind.In the forest are paths for walkimg ,providing a good place to escape the summer heat.From the observation tower,view the sunset and twilight scenes of fishing boats and feel the gentle ocean breeze.Part of this area is open for water activities in the summer when visitors paly in the water or swim,or enjoy basking in the sun.
Tiente Temple

The Tiente Temple is locate on the west side of Sungpoling. It is the largest temple in Taiwan devoted to the Tiente religion. Inside the temple is one form of Buddha. This temple has been recently restored and the courtyard is a good place for flying kites or playing. Down the hill is an old trail that local residents use for their early morning exercise. It is also a good place for evening strolls. From the courtyard there is a clear view of the ocean making one feel spiritually uplifted.
Xinfeng Golf Club

The Xinfeng Golf Club is located on Sungpoling and occupies more than 10 hectares.This was the first golf course in Taiwan to offer 27 holes.Throughout the golf course are fir,pine and cypress tress.The fairways include dense pine forest and a large grassy area,all pleasing to the eye.The golf course overlooks the vast Taiwan Straits.The views from this golf club are some of the best in Hainfeng Village.
Hsiaodingdang Science Amusement Park

This science amusement park occupies about 30 hectares including a completely natural forest and large grassy area. It is one of the 8 scenic places of Hsinchu and was voted one of the best views from the Mirage 2000. Stroll among the flowers, grass and trees. In the distance you can see the azure waves of the Taiwan Straits and the rice paddies of Zhubei flowing out like a carpet. This is the only outdoor amusement park in Taiwan that resents knowledge of the natural sciences. It includes a series of areas for children to learn about science and to strengthen their problem-solving skills. This is an educational park full of opportunities to gain knowledge while having fun
Old Hukou

This area was built up between 1914 and 1919.At the intersection of the two oldest streets is the Sanyuan Temple.Most of the buildings are long anf narrow with 2 or 3 stories and serve as shops/residences.All are made from red brick with arched doors and windows.The eaves of the buildings are decorated with the figures of phoenixes,lions and flowers.
Old Hukou has so far undergone 6 months of restoration .Granite flooeing has been laid ,arched corridors have been strengthened and the eaves have replaces,increasing the aesthetic beauty of the area. |
Hukou Tourist Tea Plantation
The Hukou Tourist Tea Plantation is located in Hukou Tsun and Hunan Tsun toward Nanyuan. This area possesses some of Taiwan’s oldest terraced tea plantations wher two types of tea, Oolong and Paochung, are grown. Visitors to the tea plantation can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and experience the taste and aroma of the different kinds of tea grown there.
